InBody scan

The InBody 570 is a device used to measure body composition. Unlike traditional scales that only provide weight measurements that are not indicative of health, the InBody scale uses bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) to assess various components of the body, such as muscle mass, body fat percentage, water distribution, and even visceral fat levels.

Body composition is a much more useful tool than weight or BMI, which only tells you your weight relative to your height. These measurements don’t account for the complexity of the body’s composition, and don’t factor in body fat or muscle mass. When clients are taking steps to increase muscle mass and decrease body fat, these changes aren’t always reflected on the scale (and sometimes they’ll even notice the scale go up!), when in fact they're becoming more metabolically efficient, stronger, and have less visceral fat.

The InBody can tell you:

  • Your Basal Metabolic Rate (the number of calories your body burns at rest)

  • Your hydration status

  • If you’re losing or gaining muscle mass and fat

  • Your body fat percentage

  • Your visceral fat score

The InBody scale is a great way to track your body composition progress, and can one of many tools we work on to improve overall wellness.

The InBody testing process is completely non-invasive and only takes a couple of minutes. First, you will be asked to wipe your feet and hands with a wipe for best testing accuracy. You’ll stand on the scale while the InBody takes your weight. Next, your height, age, and sex will be entered into the machine. Then, you will hold the hand sensors on either side of the machine with your arms outstretched at about waist level with your thumbs on the sensors until the scan is complete, which takes less than 2 minutes. You will receive a detailed print out explaining your unique body composition analysis. You can also download the InBody app to track your progress over time.
