A happy, healthy New Year

If you’re coming off of a celebration-filled, indulgent December where you ate some large holiday meals, extra special foods, and had an atypical workout and sleep and eating schedule, I truly hope you enjoyed yourself and were able to embrace this festive time of year!

And now that the calendar page has flipped to a new month and new year, this is my note to tell you that you don’t have to come off of the holidays feeling like you have to “restart” any eating or exercise plan, or work off any of the food you enjoyed. New Years is notorious for diets, detoxes and feeling guilt and shame over what you eat, with no shortage of wellness influencers selling you the newest diet plan, wellness detox, or food (elimination) challenge with promise of weight loss, better health, cleaner skin, and apparently a brand new lease on life!

Your body is already well-equipped to handle holiday food and does not require any sort of restriction or drastic diet change to “reverse” what you ate. My new year’s wish for you is that you enter a year filled with vibrant health, joyful movement, and an abundance of delicious, nourishing, and satiating foods that fuel your body and soul. May this year be one to embrace wellness without the confines of diets. May you find balance in all aspects of your health and wellness. Happy New Year!
